“Complete History of Kirby”

Kirby Super Star Ultra is a re-imagining of one of the most popular Kirby titles, Kirby Super Star.

At age 16, Kirby is hardly the pimply, sullen teenager one might expect.

Thankfully, 1up has come along to save the day with a complete history of Kirby.

If you’re a Kirby fan, like me, you can set your eyes onto Kirby’s entire past and history.

Kirby first appeared in the Game Boy title Kirby’s Dream Land, released way back in 1992.

Kirby’s papa, Masahiro Sakurai , was tasked with developing a Game Boy adventure that a player of any skill level could complete.

Popular belief is that he’s named after the “Kirby” brand of vacuum cleaners, though it’s also possible that it came from John Kirby, the superhero lawyer who saved Nintendo from some potentially devastating lawsuits when the American branch of the company was still wobbling on its young legs.

Most importantly, however, the SNES got Kirby Super Star.

I am a huge fan of Kirby, and I’ve played nearly all of his games.

Widely hailed by most Kirby fans to be the pinnacle of the series, Super Star was really eight games in one.

He has appeared in over 20 games since he was created in 1992, and recently appeared in his new game, Kirby Superstar Ultra.

In these dark times, gaming’s left with only one character as genuinely pure and innocent as his appearance would suggest: HAL’s Kirby.

This SNES title had eight single-player courses and four two-player ones.

He even has his own e-Reader card with a simple slide puzzle on it; this was distributed for free inside an issue of Nintendo Power magazine.

I didn’t realize how off-kilter I was until last week’s podcast.
