“Dead Space Preview”

If a game looks really promising, we’ll pass on our excitement.

Set to come out this holiday season, this game will be going toe to toe with veteran survival horror franchises such as Silent Hill and Resident Evil.

Their upcoming title, Dead Space, is being developed in a radically new way as EA makes its first foray into the sci-fi survival horror genre.

Here are our Dead Space PS3 previews.

Aside from your more traditional enemies, Dead Space will also include some interesting boss battles and a few other surprises.

Dead Space is Electronic Arts’ newest intellectual property, and while we’ve become used to the idea of next-gen survival horror games being first-person shooters such as F.E.A.R and Condemned, EA’s game will instead be a third-person shooter developed by their Redwood Shores studio.

The game takes place aboard the mining ship Ishimura, a seemingly lifeless mining vessel floating in space.

An example of this is the brute, a massive gorilla like enemy who will charge and smash Isaac at every opportunity.

And since main character Isaac Clarke is just an everyday space engineer, don’t expect him to be packing any serious monster-whacking weapons.

Upon arrival, the engineers soon realize that the ship had been taken over by an unknown race of aliens, and so the fight to survive begins.

Essentially, a gigantic ship takes a mining crew out to a dead planet and establishes a colony, carving the world into fifty mile chunks.

July 17, 2008 EA is ready to take its first steps into the incredibly popular survival horror genre of video games with its upcoming title Dead Space.

It’s being put together for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC all simultaneously, with no lead platform designated.

Instead, players will need to learn each foe’s weak point and how to exploit it to survive.

When a particular “Planet Cracker” ship a planet destroyer, that extracts remaining ore from a dead planet calls in a distress call, a group of engineers assemble to go investigate the issue.

Since the game feels more like a mix of BioShock and the movie Aliens, it should also provide longtime fans with an interesting experience that strays away from the genre’s standard fare.

There seem to be a good variety of makeshift weapons that can be used to down foes, but it is Isaac’s suit that appears to add real diversity to the game.

From the end of the corridor, from the shadows of shattered lights, an aluminum can rolls out.

Metallic groans seep through the thick hull of the industrial starship, drifting behind panicked gasps as the door latches securely at your back.

As a result, the team consists of a computer technician named Kendra, a systems engineer named Isaac Clarke and a small team of security officers.

But from what we’ve seen, these zero-gravity rooms could potentially hold some insanely excellent moments in the game…especially if the developers mix the wall-hopping with some frantic creature killing.

15 New RESIDENT EVIL 5 screens!

It appears as though while unearthing an alien artifact, the Ishimura is attacked by an infestation called the Corruption.

That means you can expect lots of blood, crazy creatures, a spooky, corpse-ridden spaceship to explore, and enough dismembered limbs to fill a USS Enterprise-sized meat locker.

Set four to five hundred years into the future, mankind has begun a new way of collecting resources across the galaxy called planet cracking.
